Our missionis to help end the epidemic of animal abuse that has spread throughout our nation by creating awareness of the problem and by providing education about its solution and prevention. Susie and I have embarked on a personal journey to educate people of all ages about animal abuse, the proper way to care for their pets, and ways to be safe around unfamiliar animals. We visit schools, churches, pet adoption fairs, fund-raisers, and organizations to offer information and inspiration to the public.
Through the Susie’s Hope™ nonprofit organization, Susie and I are working together as a team to motivate and educate people everywhere to love and properly care for their pets. We encourage people to respect all animals, whether owned or stray, purebred or mixed breed, loved or neglected and abused. We believe that no one should ever hurt any of God’s creatures, and we teach children that animals have feelings and experience pain just as humans do.
We also teach children that having a pet is a huge responsibility and that before adopting an animal, the family must be sure that they have enough time, devotion, and love to give to their pet. We also teach children about staying safe and avoiding injury when they are around animals they don’t know.
Because of Susie, in 2010 North Carolina citizens pushed animal legislation forward by strongly encouraging their legislators to vote for Susie’s Law. Susie’s Law allows judges to give jail time to people convicted of animal abuse in North Carolina.
We were all inspired by Susie, the poster dog for animal abuse and the sweet puppy that gave a voice to all abused animals in North Carolina.
